HAND SIGNALS - Leader of Ride
START YOUR ENGINES AND FORM UP
Left hand out and up, hand moving in a circle, and point to the road.
LEFT TURN
Left Arm straight out, pointing left.
RIGHT TURN
Left Arm out, forearm straight up pointing upward, closed fingers, fist forward with thumb extended - pointing right.
SLOW!
Left Arm Low, palm down, arm moving up and down
STOP !!!
Left Hand Low, arm not moving, palm towards the back.
CUT YOUR ENGINES
Make motion of knife cutting across your throat
SPEED UP
Left Arm Low, palm up, arm moving up and down
GO TO SINGLE FILE FORMATION
Index finger pointing straight up over head
This will usually be given when either there is an obstruction taking half the
lane (i.e. bicyclist, police car pulled over etc.) or preparing to enter curvy roadways.
RETURN TO STAGGERED FORMATION
Ride Leader holds up thumb and fourth fingers and waggles them.
DOING A 180 DEGREE TURN
Ride Leader rotates his left hand around his head. Usually to correct a missed turn.
Use pointing hand or foot extended out on side which debris is on.
Very common signal. Helps to use a stabbing motion.
BLINKERS LEFT ON
Hold hand out and quickly open fingers and close fist.
NEED GAS (hit, or close to reserve)
Point at Tank and use lights and horn to pass signal forward.
Maintain Formation !
LOR will lead acknowledge and lead group to nearest Gas Station.
COMFORT STOP
Look to left and make a bottle with left hand as though you are drinking from your thumb
Maintain Formation !
LOR will lead acknowledge and lead group to nearest appropriate location
